What Makes Your Generation Unique
(expect some surprises)
Posting 6: Your Generation
Assuming you are still relatively young,
Your children and grandchildren
wide-eyed
when you tell them:
you were alive
before life
outside Earth
—a microbe on the Moon?
a fossil on Mars?—
was discovered
(until recently, scientists insisted
Moon & Mars have no water
and thus, no life;
new technologies
indicate
extensive water—
and organic components
necessary for life
as we know it);
and that you shared Earth
with humans’ closest relatives
—chimpanzees and bonobos—
living in the wild.
Then,
they will
sit politely
as you
explain why
your generation
was among those
who did so little,
to prevent or lessen
climate disasters.
