Can You Hear It?

POSTING 2:  The trumpet.

Can you hear it?

Listen!
The trumpet 
summons you.

It summons you 
to
stand up for ideals
or against injustice,
and by doing so,
to bend history.

Yes, bend history.

The call
comes
from within you—
and from future generations—
   the people for whom
   you are an ancestor.

You can ignore
this call; but
you cannot escape 
your importance
and the pressure
accompanying it:
History 
includes
you
and will move
or not move
in directions
  bad or good
due to
what you do 
and do not do.

To hear
the trumpet
can be
easy
or difficult
depending 
on who you
are and
your circumstances,
but to respond to it
always requires
courage, 
wisdom,
and ability
to see beauty
  when day-mares
  dissolve dreams
  and inspirations fade.

You will tire; and
stumble.

You may be bruised or broken.
You will suffer 
defeats. Often.

But, 
even the
mightiest 
walls blocking you
can
crumble.
